I am starting a new pattern and am ending up with extra sts- I think it has something to do with the yo part- iI end up with 3 extra stitches by row 2 and 3

Using a CO 24 sts
Row 1- :k1, [(k2tog) 2 times, (yo k1) 3 times, yo(k2tog )2 times] k1
row 2 knit
row 3 change to b and rep row 1
Can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong, how I end up with 3 extra sts and how to fix it
Are you sure you have your parenthesis and brackets in the right places? I can’t quite get it worked out. 
I have checked it again and that is what it says. I ended up sending an email to the company to see if there is an error. I’m just frustrated since I’m new and seemed to get snagged on every project by something. Oh well. I really do think there is some error though because even on the printed directions there is a hand written parentehesis.
