Help needed to understand knitting instruction

Hi!

I’m following a sock pattern I found online but there is one instruction which I don’t understand how to do!

The pattern says:

Rnd 5: * P1, pass 3rd st on left needle over 2nd
and first st on left needle, k1, yo, k1; rep from
*around.

How do I pass the 3rd st over the 2nd and 1st stitches?

Any help would be really appreciated!!

Here is a link to the pattern:

Hi and welcome!

It’s a bit like binding off. When you do the stitch over stitch bind off, the second stitch on the right hand needle is lifted over the first (the stitch nearest the tip) and off the needle.
For this pattern, you’ll use the right needle to lift the 3rd stitch over sts 1 and 2 and off the left needle. That’ll decrease one stitch but the yo will increase one to keep the stitch count even.

That’s a pretty lace pattern on these socks. Thanks very much for the link.

Thanks so much for your help! That seems very simple now.

Yes I am excited to see how they turn out! It’s my first time doing a lace pattern

Oh good for you for venturing into something new. We’d love to see a photo when you finish.
