Help Needed please

I’m new to knitting…and I’m just about able to manage the casting and the simple knit stitch.:stuck_out_tongue:
But I have too much wool left over once I’ve finished the line and I don’t know what to do with it.
Help
:muah:

Do you mean a lot of extra yarn from casting on? Or the end st is loose after the first row? Or what…?

It’s like…the more stiches i put on, the more yarn i get in between the stitches…and then I don’t know what to do with it at the end.
Do you know what I mean? I don’t know how to explain it.

Ahh, you get loose loops between the sts. Use another caston, the backward loop one does that. So try the knit, cable or longtail and you won’t get extra yarn at the end.

Thanks, I’ll give it a go.

So what do i do about the last one being too loose?

On the first row, nothing, it’ll get better as you knit more rows. But if you start every row by knitting into the first stitch, then gently tugging the yarn and knit the next couple sts tight, not all of them, that should take care of it when that first st becomes the last st on the next row.

The last stitch always looks loose on my knitting, too. However, as you work up the knitting it disappears.

For the loose first/last stitch, you can try slipping the first stitch of each row instead of working it. I’ve found that this keeps the edges of the work much cleaner. I think the video demo of a small project on knittinghelp.com shows this.
