Help needed please!

I’m a beginner to knitting, and I’m attempting to knit from a pattern for the first time.
I managed to understand it up to row 5, but have come to a sudden stop on row 6!
The pattern reads "Cast on 53 sts.
1st Row. P3 *s1, k1, psso, k3, k2tog, p3, rep from * to end.
2nd Row. *k3, p5, rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
3rd Row. P3 * s1,k1, psso, k1, k2tog, p3, rep from * to end.
4th Row. * K3, p3, rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
5th Row. P3, * s2tog, ki, p2ssotog, p3, rep from * to end 23 sts
6th Row. Patt to end dec 1 sts evenly across row 22 sts **
Proceed as follows:-"
Please can anyone tell me if I knit all the stiches in row 6, before moving on to the pattern, or purl them, or what?
Any help would be appreciated.

For row 6 you would stay in the pattern which looks like a knit/purl sort of ribbing. Row 4 is k3, p3, end with k3, but you do a double dec on row 5 so it should be something like k3, p1, k3, and repeat. Knit the sts that look like knits and purl the sts that look like purls.

Thanks very much for such a prompt reply - now I can get a little further (I hope!)
