Help needed for ribbing after a decrease row

Hello! Can anyone help me with a ribbed neck border? I’ve knitted 7cm of ribbing. Then there was a row with decreases at intervals across the row. Now it says - keep patt correct, work a further 5 cm. But surely, some of the pattern stitches have disappeared after decreasing - so how can I keep it the same?
The pattern is in two rows:
1st row: (ws) - K2, *P1, K1, P1, K2: repeat from * to end.
2nd row: - P2, *K3, P2; rep from * to end.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you!

What pattern are you making?
Usually you would try to maintain knit and purl columns but with fewer sts in each or in some of the columns. Just looking at this, it seems to be a kind of broken rib? Maybe seeing a photo of the finished collar would help. Can you give us a pattern name?

Thanks for your reply. the pattern is a Woolcraft pattern number 1020. It’s for a Loosely Cabled Sweater but there’s no clear image showing the top of the neck border. Since posting my question, I have actually tried knitting a few rows - just missing out the stitches that were decreased and it seems to be working OK - so what you said sounds right. Thanks so much!
All the best - Sue C.
