Help, my sock is not stretchy enough because of pattern!

Hello!

I recently started knitting my very first pair of wool socks, and I was almost sure I’d end up with this problem, but decided to try anyway, since I couldn’t really find any tips in this matter.

The socks have a pattern, so Im knitting with 2 colors. I looked up ways to do this (I knit continental style I think) and was doing ok, but now that the pattern part is done, the sock wont stretch enough! I can barely get it over my ankle, so I cant imagine it will be very comfortable.

I did try searching both this forum and using google, but Im probably wording my issue wrong or I am the only person in the world with this problem :stuck_out_tongue:

Im guessing there is no way of fixing the sock Im working on, but since its my first I may just continue knitting to learn how to make the heel, and just start a new pair after this one, but I would love any tips for my next attempt.

Im using a lanolin wool yarn, carry both threads on my left hand and it didn’t seem tight at all when I was working.

I hope I explained this properly, if there already are threads with the same question that I didn’t find then please send me a link  Any help will be greatly appreciated

Can you show us a picture? Is this a toe up or top down sock? Are you having problems in the ankle heel part or cuff?

Sure I can show a picture, not sure what that will do since it just looks like a tube with flowers on, lol ^^

Its a top down sock, the pattern is supposed to be around the leg, but since it is so tight I cant get it over my heel/ankle :S
