So I’ve never knitted before and for some reason have started with this pattern, I’ve gotten to the point where it’s says “Beg with a purl row,” and I don’t have a clue what to do. Please help me

Not an easy for a new knitter but good for you for jumping in.
The end of the first column is the leg openings. That row is a right side (RS) row or knit row for this pattern. The following row is a purl row and that’s what the pattern is referring to when it says, “Beginning with a purl row…” The rows following will be worked in stockinette (knit one row, purl one row until about the required length, ending having completed a purl row.

What does it mean by all the leg section as are done with different balls of yarn?
Just before that note you work a row with cast off stiches. So you will end that row with 5 knit sts, a gap where sts were bound off, 36 knit sts, another gap and some more knit sts (for the first size). In order to work the sts on the needle you’ll either need separate balls of yarn for each section or work one section at a time, put sts on hold, rejoin yarn and work the next section for the given length.
Once you work the bind off row for the Leg Opening you’ll see that you need to work each section with separate balls of yarn or one section at a time. It’s easier to visualize with the sts on the needle.

Looks fine so far. Leave the sts on the needle on a holder or spare needle. Place markers on the cast on edge (red lines in photo below). The pattern tells you how many sts in from the ends depending on the size you’re making.
Then you’ll pick up sts between the markers (along the yellow line in the photo).

You’ll be picking up approximately one stitch in each column of Vs.

Yeah literally started about 2 weeks ago and somehow thought this would be the best pattern to follow first, it makes it a lot easier to understand with everyone’s help.

You are making great progress!
Now you’re going to put the finishing touches on the sweater. At the end of the section called Joining you placed markers at each end of the row. Now you’re to pick up 33sts from one marker up to the 26sts held on the spare needle. Knit across those 26sts then pick up 33sts from the last knit stitch to the marker at the opposite side of the sweater.
Knit 8 rows on all 92 sts then cast off. These rows are knit back and forth ( don’t be tempted to join in the round).
It will be easier if you change the orientation of the spare needle so that you have the point facing to the right.
So I’m picking up and knitting towards the back then knitting the 26 on my spare needle, from that I’m then going to my other marker then knitting 8 rows like normal?
Yes, that’s right. Easiest to start at the right in the photo and knit around to the left. That’s why the spare needle should have the point at the right so that you can knit off those 26sts.
This is going to be knit every row to give you a nice border. You’re on your way!
You can slip those stitches onto any spare needle, it doesn’t have to be the same size it can be a little smaller. When you slip them do it purl wise, that’s needle point to needle point. You can work them off of a smaller needle it won’t effect the row.
Don’t forget you also need to decrease 1 stitch in the centre of those stitches. I would put a marker in place before I started the pick up just so I wouldn’t forget when I got there. It will be work 12, k2tog, work 12.
