Help me get started

ok, this may seem like a real dumb question, so here it goes. I want to make this sweater and it says finished size (34[36:38:40:42] inches). I want a finished size of 34" so that means I would knit the first number for every thing the pattern tells me to, right? Well is says cast on 71[75:79:83:87:91]sts. Why then does it have five numbers in the bracket and only four where it says finished size? When it says increase until there are 79[83:87:91:95:99] which one am I doing? Why is there six numbers? They don’t match the finished size measurements. Also, it is an argle pattern and it says to work pattern from row 1 starting with stitch marked A[B:C:D:E:F] Which one should I do? “A”? Boy, am I embarrassed asking this question

Don’t be embarrassed because it is a legitimate question. There does seem to be a descrepancy there - it’s the argyle pattern from magknits, right?? If so, the designer’s email and website are listed at the bottom of the pattern, I’d drop her a line to ask what’s up.

Thanks, Knitqueen I thought I was losing it! I will e-mail her to ask her which one I should make. :teehee:

Maybe it’s a pattern error that she’s unaware of anyways, so it’s always good to ask.
