Help me figure out how to pick up stitches

Hi,
I’ve been to the video on here on how to pick up stitches and I sort of get it but i’m not sure how to continue after I picked up the # of stitches I need.

I’m making a knitted wool diaper cover and I have to pick up stitches around the leg hole to make the leg cuffs.

I’m also not sure how to start the picking up. Do I tie a knot where I want to start or what ? So confused

Thanks for your help

When I pick up stitches, I just leave a length of yarn, maybe six inches or so, hanging at the beginning of where I begin to pick up. Then, when I’m finished, I go back and weave the loose end in. I’m assuming that for the pattern, you’re picking up stitches all the way around the leg hole, so you’ll wind up with a circle of them either on a circular needle or DPNs. Once you pick up all of them, just continue to knit them in the round.

Thanks! :cheering: That helps a lot. I’ve never knitted in the round before on circular needles but I think I can figure it out. I’ll watch the video on here.
