I am working on the back and am stuck on the following instructions:
Next row: k1, sl1, k1, psso, patt to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. 91 sts.
This row sets decreases.
Dec as set on following 4th rows. 89 sts
Work 3 rows, ending with RS facing for next row.
I understand the abbreviations, but am stuck on what the last three sentences mean.
The next piece after this is also a confusion as well:
Next row: Patt 7, sl1, k1, psso, patt to last 9 sts, k2tog, patt 7. 87 sts
This row sets decreases.
Dec as set on 3 foll 4th rows. 81 sts
Continue without shaping until work meas 21cm.
What does patt 7 mean, and what do the last 3 sentences mean?
I cannot figure these out! Please help. Thank you in advance to those who take the time to reply
The first row decreases 1 stitch each end of a row
The second is telling you this is how you will decrease from here on unless instructed otherwise
The third instruction tells you to repeat the decreases on the 4th rows following until you have 89 stitches left then just work 3rows normal ending with the right side facing you (usually a knit row)
Pattern 7 means if you are knitting a pattern I.e. lace or something you have to work the first 7 stitches of the pattern, then work the decrease, then finish with the 7 pattern stitches again
The last three rows again are telling you that the last row is where to place your decreases in the row, how often to work them and how long to make your work without anymore decreases before the next instruction.
I hope you can understand this, if not I will try and do it easier. Good luck
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You’re awesome! That makes perfect sense.
There are two lines of instructions that I didnt include which states ‘this forms the pattern’ so with that and your explanation, I totally understand it now.
