Help! infinity scarf

So my friend wants this exact infinity scarf, but in beige :\ so she asked me to make it for her, but I want to make sure I make it as exact to the pattern as possible. It looks to me like it’s made with larger needles and multiple strands of yarn but it looks like it was knit in the round (like 8 foot circular needles haha) and then only a few rows :\ If someone could help me figure out how to exactly make this, I would so very much appreciate it. I did send an e-mail to the designer, but the e-mail address was pretty generic and I’m not sure if I’m gonna get a response :frowning: Anyway, here’s the link:

I doubt the designer will share the pattern with you. With 36" circular needles you can get a lot of sts on them; looks like 3 strands of worsted and maybe a size 17 or 19 needle. It looks like - CO, join the round, knit one round, purl one round, then knit till it’s the height you want, purl a round, knit a round, BO. How many sts depends on how long it needs to be to double wrap for a cowl as shown, times how many sts per inch you get. You can use double stranded or bulky yarn and size 13 or 15 needles.

If you click on her profile it states that patterns can be bought as a PDF download. So maybe this is also one of the pattens she has for sale.

suzeeq- that helps so much! i was thinking the same thing about the designer not sharing but thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask :\ i almost sent you a private message about this too since you are usually the one who helps me out  but figured someone else might have a similar question… looks like i will be buying a new set of circular needles!!! thanks so much!!

lighting57- yeah, i saw that too and checked and this scarf isn’t one of the patterns she has available :frowning: which is what made me decide to email her in high hopes! hah…

The pattern looks quite straightforward, as suzeeq stated. It has a knit all rows body (which in knitting in the round is equivalent to knit one row, purl one row in back and forth) with knit one, purl one (garter) at the edge.

As for the number of stitches, you’d have to see how many you actually need, or how many your friend wants, since you can make it larger or smaller in diameter.

Here’s a link to a tutorial where someone is making a scarf almost like the one you pictured. The only difference is that you would have to knit every row, instead of knit a row and then purl a row.

hth, knitcindy

I had tried it and it curled REALLY bad since it was stockinette… i didnt do the purl row though and it only took like 2 hours to make, so i think i’ll try with a first and last row purled to see if it will keep it straighter.

i also made myself one with bulky yarn and a seed stitch which ended up working out just fine but she wants that stockinette look so i will try again haha.

thanks so much everyone. im so thankful for this message board
