Help I'm stuck

Hi guys I really need you help on this one please. I’m stuck in undertanding in the following. (Decresing on the armhole)

Cast off 4 at both ends and dec at each end of the next 3 rows Which I had done and now this bit I don’t understand maybr you can.

and then the 4 follwing altermate rows, then 3 following altermate rows 40 st left on the needle.

If you look at the dec method it looks as if you are decresing 3 at one end if the next other row and 4 at another end. So that turns out to be. Now dose that mean I have to dec 3 sts together or bind off 3 of the altermate rows.

Can anybody follow this decreasing cos I can’t.

Thanks for helping me.

They way I read it is : next row dec
next row nothing
next row dec
next row nothing
next row dec
next row nothing
next row dec
You have the four alternate rows and then the three alternate rows.
The only question I have to ask is how many stitches do you have on the needle before you start the decreases?

It dosen’t say but as I read it. It says cast off 3 sts at the begining of the next to rows and that leaves 62 sts. Plus it also says the same as dec at both ends of the following altermate rows as the above mentioned.

I thought of that when I read it and reading it like that it confuses people.

Why print it saying dec 1 sts at each altermate rows!

So what I had done is dec at each end the knit row and the next (purl) not dec. That make more sense to me:teehee:

and then the 4 follwing altermate rows, then 3 following altermate rows 40 st left on the needle.

I don’t know why it would say this. Doesn’t 4+3=7. Why didn’t they just say the 7 following alternate rows if that is what they meant?

You’ve got it right. Went over and over this in my head and came up with that conclusion.

All I can say is silly printer:)

Is there a link to this pattern? I find it a bit confusing and strange. Most patterns at least for me are readable. Could you copy it or pm one of us as it seems something is missing?
