When I get to my last stitch and go to transfer it to the other needle I have a big loop like you would see on a pot holder do I just transfer to the other needle without stitching. I don’t know if I have explained it to where anyone can help, I sure hope so. I’m new at this and would appreciate any help you can offer:knitting:
Are you giving the yarn a good tug when you do that last st? You will have some slack so just turn around and tighten the first st on the next row.:sun:
Some people slip that without stitching. I don’t like the looks of that but some do.
Try to not stretch your stitches as much when pulling the stitch off the left needle or inserting your right needle when you get towards the end of the row. That seems to help me.
You’ll get better and it won’t be so bad.
Snugging the first and last stitch will help, and you know what else will? Keeping on knitting- because those loose stitches tend to tighten up and look fine after a few rows. Washing it when you’re done also helps even things out.
Good luck!
Snug up the both the first and especially the second stitch. It seems to me when you snug up the second stitch it seems like you “lock” that first loop in. Any extra “loop” evens out as you knit/purl back across those loops on the next row.
It’s normal for that last stitch to be loose like that. Don’t sweat it. As already mentioned, it tightens up when you knit it.
yep it does tend to tighten up as your knitting progresses so dont panic
