Help! I need pattern reading help-

:?? hi everyone-what a cool website. i’m new and am hung up on a simple project. I’m using the “Beginner’s Guide” by Alison Dupernex, which has been great so far, but I don’t have access to anyone ‘in person’ to help me. I don’t understand how to read a pattern. My project is the ‘Shapely Stockinette’ hat. I’m on the 1st row of (crown shaping) and have successfully (I think) knitted the repeat of *K3tog, K19, rep from * to last st. NOW…it’s the next part that I don’t understand because I’ve repeated to the last stitch. The entire line reads;

Next row (crown shaping): K1 * K3tog, K14 (16,18), rep from * to last st, K1-84 (104,116) sts. Work 1 (1,3) rows.

If I’ve completed the repeat to the last stitch, where do the next 'K1-84 (104,116) stitches come in? Is this the next row?

I’m sorry I realize how basic this is, but I’d appreciate any help.
It’s my 1st time to the site, but I look forward to everyone’s info/projects/and advice. Thanks! :study:

OK, knit to the last stitch, k1, are your directions.

The numbers after that just tell you how many stitches should be on the needle for the size your making.

Thanks so much Ingrid! I’m having a blast with this and really want to make sure I do it right.
Thanks again-Mkowals6
