I’m knitting my mum a jumper (my first ever) for her birthday.
The pattern I am using is Mirasol Sami M5030.
It doesn’t say how to measure my knitting. It just says ‘cont until piece measures approx 40.5cm’.
Should I measure it stretched out and blocked? Or should I leave it how it is on the needles?
I would be so grateful if someone could enlighten me!

Leave your work on the needles. Lie it out as evenly and neatly as you can. Measure from the cast on edge up to your needles. When that equals 40.5cm continue to the next step.

Do I stretch the work out whilst still on the needles at all, or just let it lie how it likes (in a neat way)?
just in its relaxed, natural state, as neat as you can, but NO stretching
