Help how do I make this

Hi everyone,
I’m a new poster and have been knitting for about 3 months now thanks to this wonderful site. The question I have is I want to make a simple wrap that looks like a cone with the top cut off, so the top and bottom opening is round. My question is do I use a circular needle and increase my stitches, or do I use a straight needle and increase from the edge and then stitch the two edges together?

I think that type of pattern is generally called a capelet. Go to www.knittingpatterncentral.com and in their search box type in capelet. You’ll come up with lots of options and hopefully you’ll find something there.
