Help! How do I cast on my Jumper Sleeves?

I’m knitting a jumper for my mum and need some help (it’s my first ever jumper). :???:

Pattern Using: Mirasol Sami M5030

Style: knitting in the round from the bottom up, doing the back and front together and the sleeves separately so you have 3 tubes, then you put all the sts on one circular needle and knit the yoke altogether.

My Question: I’m about to cast on for the first sleeve. There has been no mention of binding off. The instructions just start with ‘cast on 40 sts on smaller circular needles’.

Does this mean I cast on using the yarn which is a part of my front/back piece? or do I start a new piece of knitting?

Secondly, How do I cast on without a loose length of wool hanging between the end of my last round on the body, and the beginning of the first round on the sleeve.

Yours Hopefully,

Abi

You need to create 3 tubes, as the pattern states. You’ll cut the yarn and move the stitches you have now to a holder. You can thread a yarn needle with waste yarn and just move them onto the yarn by slipping them onto the needle and moving them onto the yarn. Cast on and knit one sleeve, move it it waste yarn, then cast on and knit the second sleeve.
