HELP! Heel shaping question! Jessi?

I now Jessi has used this method, don’t know about anyone else. I am using the Socks! The Next Step book and I’ve reached the part where you are starting the heel. It has me doing mirrored wraps (both knit and purl) to start. There are 30 stitches involved in the heel shaping. Instructions say:

Row 1: Knit 28 stittches KW (knit wrap) and turn
Row 2: Purl 26 stitches PW (purl wrap) and turn

Problem is after I do the wrap I still have two stitches left on the left needle and it says to turn. What do I do with them?

I haven’t done these socks, but I do know short row shaping when I see it.

Leave them. Just go back the other way. You’ll have more and more left on the needle as you go.

Ohhhhh! Okay, thanks!! Something new for me.

Jan, I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you. My aunt has was told by her doctors she can no longer do dialysis. So things have been a little hectic today with getting hospice involved and relatives coming out of nowhere to stake their claim on her stuff. Thank God for knitting! Anyways, Ingrid is totally right, as always, and by the time your done you should have a triangular shape. Then you will turn the heel on two rows and then you will start the increasing short rows. Basically you will be making the triangle top to bottom instead of bottom to top like you did when you began the short rows, if that makes sense.

No problem, Jessi. I knew that even if someone hadn’t done the pattern they would probably know or could figure it out since I’m sure the stitches aren’t new.

I’m not entirely sure of what you are saying, but I’m sure it will become clear as I get to that point. Thanks!

I’m sorry about your aunt! This has to be a difficult time for you and your family. Take care!
