Help for a baby’s cardigan

I am fairly new to knitting and attempting a baby’s cardigan. I have done the back and it says save the stitches on a separate needle. Do I break the wool and if so how long should the piece of wool be? It then says do the same with the 2 front pieces and both sleeves.
When I have done all of them the next part is the yoke and I have to knit them all together but no idea how this will work. Can anyone help please?

Welcome to the forum!
Yes you should break the yarn on at least 4 of the sections. Leave about a 6 inch tail to weave in later. The instructions will tell you where to start working the yoke. It’s possible that you can leave the yarn strand attached to the ball at that spot so you can start working the yoke. If you cut the yarn from all sections that’s ok too. It just gives you a couple more ends to weave in.

Usually the pattern will give you instructions to work across one section, say the right front then work across the rt sleeve, back, left sleeve and finally the left front. The section to start with may vary depending on the pattern but the instructions should tell you.
What is the name of your pattern?

Thank you for the advice. There are no instructions as to how to do this or how to weave in the strands. I am working from a book by Debbie Bliss called The ultimate book of baby knits.
I am guessing that when I come to do the yoke I tie the ball of wool to the end of a strand? It just says knit across from right front then right sleeve then back then left sleeve and left front. I have a while until I get to that as I have only done the back! Thanks for the help.

All you really need is the order of adding the pieces starting at the right front. If the strand from a ball of yarn is at the beginning of the right front with the RS (right side that is the public side) facing then you can use that strand and source of yarn to knit the yoke. All the other sections can have the yarn cut leaving about a 6" tail.
Here’s a video for weaving in ends although you won’t have to do that until you finish. You can weave ends into any nearby seams as well. There are other ways to weave in ends. I just find this way nice and stretchy.

Thank you, that’s really helpful. If I get stuck again I’ll message for help!
