Help Finishing Sweater

Hi friends,

I’m knitting my very first sweater and I’m having trouble understanding what the “shape neckband section of my sweater is asking. I’ll copy and paste the patter instructions below:

“ Neckband: With RS facing. MC and smaller needles, K9 (9-9-11-11- 11) from Left Sleeve st holder, dec 2 sts evenly across. Pick up and knit 15 sts down left front neck edge. K19 (21-21-21-23-23) from Front st holder. Pick up and knit 15 sts up right front neck edge. K9 (9-9-11-11-11) from Right Sleeve st holder, dec 2 sts evenly across. K33 (33-35-35-37-37) from Back st holder, dec 2 (0-2-2-2-2) sts evenly across. 94 (98-98-102-106-106) sts. Beg on a 2nd row, work 9 rows in (K2. P2) ribbing as given for Back. Cast off in ribbing. Sew left back raglan and neckband seam.”

I understand most of it, but I don’t understand how the left and right sleeves have to do with the neckband. I don’t know what to do here so if anyone has any tips please let me know.

I’d like to reiterate that I am focused on the sleeve parts.

Thank you all!

Welcome to KH!
When the upper sleeve finishes, there should be some number of sts (depending on your size) on hold. Those sts with 2 decreases, will form part of the neckband at each side. Maybe this is a raglan sweater?
What is the name of your pattern?

This is a raglan sweater, yes. The patter is Adults Knit Crew Neck Striped Pullover by Yarnspirations. I’m a beginner knitter so I’m unfamiliar with these techniques. Thank you for responding

Nice one.

When you begin knitting especially sweaters, everything is a new adventure. This all becomes easier the more different patterns you knit. You’re doing very well with this pattern and almost finished! We’d love to see a photo when you do.
