Help figuring out pattern: raglan increases stitches idk if I do m1L or M1r

I’m doing a children’s cardigan “Ellen’s cardigan by petite knits”. I’ve never done raglan increases or German short rows.

I currently have the 4 stitch markers placed on my project, but I am confused with what to do, should I, m1L or m1r or what I’m suppose to be doing when I get to the marker indicating to do a raglan increase on the right side. It says there will be 8 increases on the RS. So I’m assuming it’s a combination but im not sure which to start with since I’ve never done them I can’t visualize it.

Any help is appreciated! I’m really new to knitting this is only my 5th project the other ones had very clear instructions with simple stitches.

Darling sweater. It uses a couple of techniques that will come in handy for later sweaters too.
Make sure to mark the raglan stitch with a marker on the stitch itself. You can work a M1L, M1R on either side of that marked stitch. You could also use a favorite increase if you have one. An improved Kfb will work and might be easier putting less strain on the raglan stitch.

Work up to the marked stitch then work the M1, knit the raglan stitch then work another M1. For the Kfb you would work to one stitch before the marked stitch, work the Kfb in that stitch, knit the raglan stitch then work a Kfb on the next stitch.

In this video there are 3 raglan sts but the same idea for the improved Kfb holds. You could do either the regular Kfb or the improved depending on which you prefer. Just use one or the other on each side of the raglan stitch.

The short rows won’t interfere with raglan increases. You’ll always work the increases then make the turns as written before the end of row. This is a good pattern to use from a careful designer. Give it a try and see how it goes. If you still have questions, come back and ask again.
