Help! double cast on!

I am new here! Hello!

I am doing an I-cord bind off using a circular needle. The pattern calls for me to cast on with a dpn with a double strand of yarn, then put it onto the left side of my circular needle. How do you start a double cast on a Dpn after knitting a row on a circular needle? Do I need another ball of yarn? do I use this in addition to the yarn I am working with?

 :wall:

thanks!!!

It’s saying to use a double strand and I don’t think in the case that it means a double cast on. It just means with two strands of yarn. If you have knitting already on your needle and have to cast on you will use one of the single cast on methods. Cable cast on, knit on, or backward loop.

The video here might help explain it too.

This is what it says…

“Using double strand of yarn and dpn, cast on 4 stitches; place these 4 stitches onto LH of circular needle”

I have knitted all my circular rows, do I now unroll the ball of yarn to have enough to do the bind off, or do I need another new ball of yarn all together?

sorry if I don’t make any sence, I am very new at this!!!

oh, I see! Do I break the yarn before I start? Do I leave a long tail before I break it? am I using this yarn to knit at all anymore? :verysad:

Can you take the other strand from the other end of your ball/skein? That would make sure you have enough to do the Icord without cutting.

I think thats what I am going to do to be safe.

Thanks!
