Help casting on sleeve sts knitting in the round

Hoping someone can help me because I am at my wits end. I am working on Twinkle’s Big City Knits Shopping Tunic, which is knitted in the round, all in one piece, from the bottom up. I am to the point that requires me to cast on sleeve sts. The pattern says:

Bind off 2 sts, k18, (20,22,24) Front sts, BO 2 sts, K18 (20, 22, 24) Back sts.

So far, so good. I’ve done the above and next it says:

Pm, CO 14 (14, 16, 18) Sleeve sts, pm, K18 (20, 22, 24), pm, CO 14 (14, 16, 18) Sleeve sts, pm, K18 (20, 22, 24)–64(68, 76, 84) sts.

My questions are:

  1. How do you cast-on new stitches if you are knitting in the round?
  2. Once you cast them on, don’t you have to knit those newly cast-on stitches before you continue on with the rest of the row?

Hopefully this makes sense and I totally appreciate any insights anyone might have.
Many thanks in advance!!!

To co new sts when knitting in the round, put your right needle into the left hand, use a knitted or cable CO, then put it back into the right hand. Then you can continue to knit the rest of the sts; they won’t be worked on until the next round.

Aha, yes, that makes sense!
Thank you!!!:woot:
