Help armhole

Hi, I am confused about how to when starting armhole shape. I can bind off and decrease stitch but what pattern should I follow when armhole shape starts? my pattern is like this

Front. Starting at bottom with No. 6 needles, cast on 78 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 3½ inches, increasing 7 sts in the last row, at equal distances apart (85 sts). Then work as follows: 1st row: K 3, * p 1, k 3. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 1, k 1. 2nd row: K 2, * p 2, k 2. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 2, k 1. 3rd row: K l, p 1, k 1, * p 3, k l. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 1, k 1. 4th row: K 2, * p 3, k 1. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 2, k 1. 5th row: K 3, * p 2, k 2. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 1, k 1. 6th row: K 2, * p 1, k 3. Repeat from * across, ending row with p 1, k 2. Repeat these 6 rows 8 more times. Then repeat 1st row. Hereafter work as follows: 1st row: K 8, * k 2, p 2. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 9. 2nd row: K 8, p 2, * k 1, p 3. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 9. 3rd row: K 9, * k 1, p 3. Repeat from * across to within last 12 sts, then k 1, p 2, k 9. 4th row: K 9, * k 2, p 2. Repeat from * across to within last 12 sts, then k 2, p 1, k 9. 5th row: K 10, * p 1, k 3. Repeat from * across, to within 11 sts, then p 1, k 10. 6th row: K 11, * p 1, k 3. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 10. 7th row: K 11, p 1, * k 2, p 2. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 13.
To Shape Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows, keeping the 6 sts at both ends in garter st. Then dec. 1 st (inside border) at end of each row 6 times. Work 5 rows straight. Hereafter work as follows: 1st row: K 6, (p 3, k 1) 5 times, p 1, k 15, (p 3, k 1) 5 times, p 1, k 6. 2nd row: K 6, p 2 tog., p 1, (k 2, p 2) 4 times, k 18, (p 2, k 2) 4 times, p 2, k 2 tog., k 6. 3rd row: K 6, (k 3, p 1) 4 times, k 23, (p 1, k 3) 4 times, k 6. 4th row: K 6, k 2 tog., k 2, (p 1, k 3) 4 times, k 16, (p 1, k 3) 4 times, p 1, k 2 tog., k 6. 5th row: K 6, (k 2, p 2) 4 times, k 20, (k 2, p 2) 4 times, k 7. 6th row: K 6, p 2 tog., (k 1, p 3) 3 times, k 1, p 2, k 19, p 2, (k 1, p 3) 3 times, k 1, p 2 tog., k 6. Next row: K 6, (k 1, p 3) 3 times, k 1, p 2, k 6, bind off 9 sts (thus starting neck shaping), k 6 (k 1, p 3) 3 times, k 1, p 2, k 6. Hereafter work over these 27 sts, decreasing 1 st at neck edge (inside border) every other row until 21 sts remain. Work straight until piece measures 9 inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. To shape shoulder, starting at armhole edge, bind off 5 sts every other row 3 times. Work over remaining 6 sts in garter st for 2½ inches. Bind off. Attach yarn at opposite side of neck edge and work to correspond.

Hi and welcome!

Is your question how to stay in pattern as you shape the armholes? Follow the pattern you have been using so that the pattern stitch continues. You want to make sure that the pattern stitch stays in register, that is, that the columns of knits and purls repeat and don’t jog out of line. You’ll have to account for the missing stitches but you should also be able to see that the pattern lines up after the first few sts.

What is the name of the pattern?
