Hi everyone!
I am working a beginner pattern right now that has me K5, P37 then K5. Somehow, when I’m transitioning from knit to perl, I’m adding an extra stitch. I know that’s where it’s happening, but I can’t figure out how I’m actually doing it. I’ve restarted this bugger 4 times now! bah!
Can anyone provide me with insight?

You’re probably doing an accidental yarn over (YO). That’s common among new knitters. Make sure your yarn is coming to the front [I]between[/I] the needles to purl and going back [I]between[/I] the needles to knit.
At the top of the page is a videos tab with videos for both purling and knitting and in both continental and english method. Check those for a refresher.

You were exactly right. I tried it again and noticed that when I switched from knit to perl, I didn’t change my yarn position and it was creating the extra stitch.
