Help a newbie with a pattern.

I have a pattern that says to continue in garter stitch and increase 1 stitch at each end of next row and 6 following 6th rows. 36 stitches.

What those it mean by 6 following 6th rows?

Please help :persevere::confounded: ,I just began learning how to read knitting patterns and this part is really troubling me.

Welcome to KH and to knitting!
The direction means to increase on every 6th row. It’s also telling you to work this increase 6 times. So that means to increase at each end on the next row. Call it row 1 so the following increases are on rows 7,13,19,25,31 and 37.

Ooooh!!! That makes so much sense now.
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. :kissing_heart:
