Helmet liner help

Hello everyone! :waving:
i am making this helmet liner: http://knitting.about.com/od/hatpatterns/a/helmetliner.htm
I am using the instructions for the *REVISION FOR RIBBING AROUND FACE and I do not understand the part of the instructions that is highlighted in red below
With smaller needle still in neck portion, PU stitches around face. Join in circle and K in 2x2 ribbing for 1 inch. On last row of ribbing, decrease in 8 sets of purl stitches by P2tog (4 sets on each side of face, i.e. 10:00, 2:00, 4:00 and 8:00). This will pull the ribbing in close to the soldier’s face. BO in ribbing and work in tail. BO around face can be snug. Can someone please help with this? Thanks in advance!

Okay, on the last row of ribbing, do 8 decs evenly spaced around the opening. Picture it as a clock face with your beginning of round at 12, and dec at the 10, 2, 4 and 8 positions. Dec in the purl ribs twice at each postion; it’ll help if you spread it out and put markers where these points are.
