Hello, knitting help needed

Hi, I am knitting a baby bolero. Unfortunately I cannot see who made the pattern. I have knitted the back and the 2 fronts and am now starting the sleeves and this is where I have got stuck. I have tried you tube and an internet search without success so please if anyone can get me unstuck I would be very grateful. The instructions state, cast on 62 stitches. First row. K2, cast off 2sts, rep from to last 2 sts.k2.
I knitted 2 and then knitted the next and put the previous loop over it to decrease one doing the same again all along the row but ended up with too few stitches.
Where am I going wrong please? The last time I had to seek help you were all so helpful I was able to complete that Cardigan.
Many thanks.

Can you give any info about the name of the pattern? How many stitches are you supposed to end with? It might help to see the next row or two as well, so we can see what is intended.

Maybe you could take a pic of that part of the pattern with your phone and post it? There’s a little “landscape” icon above the text field that will take you to the upload page.

I agree more information would be helpful.
My first thought is you have only cast off 1 rather than 2.
K2, cast off 2. Total 4
Call the stitches 1, 2, 3, 4
Knit 1, Knit 2, Knit 3, pass 2 over 3 (1 st cast off), Knit 4, pass 3 over 4 (2 sts cast off)
Total 4 sts used.
Repeat k 1, k 2, k3, pass 2 over 3, k 4, pass 3 over 4.

As it is a 4 stitch repeat it fits across 60 sts (15 times) leaving 2 sts remaining for the final 2 Knit sts.

Maybe this will work for you?

The math works if you knit 2 and leave them on the right needle. They won’t be needed in the rest of the row. Then knit stitch 3 and 4, pass 3 over 4. Now knit stitch 5 and pass 4 over 5. That’ll take 5sts per repeat.
K2 + (repeat of 5sts) x 12 =62

Knowing the pattern name and company will help too. Does the pattern give you a stitch number after the row is completed?

Salmonmac does the repeat of 5 allow for the need to work to last 2 stitches and then k2? So not ending the row with bind offs?

Yes, I wrote out the math incorrectly (I’m sure my math teacher is rolling her eyes). Thank you for picking up on that. It should be
(repeat of 5sts x 12) + k2 =62
The first k2 as part of the repeat of 5 then you begin and end with k2. The sequence of sts as written is correct, beginning and ending with k2.

Thank you Creations and Salmonac. I tried your suggestion and it worked! Makes a nice little edge. One I will remember.
Thank you again

We’d love it if you post a photo when you finish. Have fun with the bolero!

Many thanks again for the help. The bolero is finished. I am still very much a beginner but I am pleased with the result. I am also attaching a photo of the other cardigan I sought help with on this very helpful site.regards

Congratulations it is beautiful.

It’s a pleasure to see these cardigans. They are so lovely and so nicely done!
I’m afraid you’ve lost your beginner status.

Great cardigans. I agree with salmonmac you’ve lost your beginner status.
Looking forward to seeing more of your projects.

Thank you.
