Heel shaping pattern help?!

I’ve been following a pattern to knit felted slipper socks in the book Knitted Socks by Anna Tillman. Anyway, now that I’ve gotten to the heel shaping part, the pattern just doesn’t seem to work. I’ve been following it exactly but once I get to row 5 I run out of stitches. I’m not sure if it’s just me or if the pattern is wrong??

Here’s the pattern (I have 16 stitches on my needle for the heel):

Row 1: Sl1, p10, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 2: Sl1, k5, ssk2tog, k1, turn
Row 3: Sl1, p6, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 4: Sl1, k7, ssk2tog, k1, turn
Row 5: Sl1, p8, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 6: Sl1, k9, ssk2tog, k1, turn
Row 7: Sl1, p8, p2tog, turn
Row 8: Sl1, k8, ssk2tog, turn

You’ll need to take stitches from the other needles now.

?? Sorry I don’t understand…I’ve only been working with the 16 stitches on my needle for the heel flap and heel shaping, so all the other stitches are way back at the ankle.

Maybe this will help.

Yeah see that pattern makes sense to me! According to that it would be:
Row 1: p10, p2tog, p1, turn
Row 2: S1, k5, k2tog, k1, turn
Row 3: S1, p6 p2tog, p1, turn
Row 4: S1, k7, k2tog, k1, turn
Row 5, S1, p8, p2tog, turn
Row 6: S1, k8, k2tog, turn

I don’t understand why my pattern has the two extra rows and where those extra stitches come from

I bet there’s a mistake in the pattern. ssk2tog doesn’t really make sense now that I look at it. I bet it’s supposed to be ssk OR k2tog, not both.

Try it the way you typed it out. I bet that’ll work.

Are you sure you’re supposed to start with 16 sts on the needle? I think the pattern works with 18 sts to start with and using Ingrid’s suggestion to decrease one at the ssk2tog (slip, slip, knit the 2 slip sts together)
