The heel directions are:
“K18, turn work around and with same needle, p36-36 heel sts on one needle. Place rem 36 sts on spare needle(s) or holder to work later for instep.” I don’t understand what it means by same needle -& turning work. When I did it the way I thought, I wound up with too many stitches on spare needle or holder. Sigh. Hope someone can somehow clarify it for me…I get k18, p36 and rem 36 on spare. I just don’t get “turn work and with same needle…”
You’re going to work the heel stitches on two needles at this point, but they’re not on the same needle yet.
Turn your work so you’re looking at the back, purl 18 from that needle and 18 from the next needle. Those will be your heel stitches, and the rest will be left for the instep later.
Thank you, Ingrid. I think I know what you mean. I will go work on that and hopefully, it’ll all come out in the wash like every other problem I face…actually, I think I might have solved it myself overnight. I don’t know how that works, but it’s worked in my sewing with difficult-to-understand directions. So it’s 18 & 18 to equal 36 which is exactly 1/2 of my total 72. Now I get it. Thank you again. I do so love this forum as there are tons of people willing to help us newbies. :yay:
