Heavy Afghan

Does anyone have any suggestions on supporting the weight of an afghan while knitting it? I am working on a beautiful pattern and less than half way through it but the weight is making it hard to knit more than a few rows at a time because my arms get sore.

I have it on a 36" circular - would putting it on a longer length of cable help or hinder?

Any other suggestions are welcome!

It would probably help to use a longer circ, or even two circs used as two straights–just block the outer tips with a rubberband or point protector. Anything that will distribute the weight will help.

And lower your arms so the majority of the weight is on your lap.
