Heart Cable Help!

Hi there.
I’m new to the forum. Thanks for having me.
I am really stuck on this heart cable I am doing and I can’t even get past the first row and it is really frustrating that I can’t do it!

My problem in the pattern is how to do an “M3” - (k1 tbl, k1) into next st, pick up vertical strand between these 2 sts and k into back of it"

Is the first part (k1 tbl, k1) into the same stitch or different stitches? Then I have no idea how to pick up the vertical strand where ever that is??? ??

It’s all done in the same st - knit into the back leg of the st, leave it on the needle, then knit into the front leg of it. Then knit into the strand of yarn between the 2 of them.

Thanks for replying Sue. Can I ask:

after I have k1 tbl, k1 - do i let go of the st on my left needle?

I still don’t know where to find the vertical yarn!!!
