Have any of you gone or plan to go

on a knitting retreat? A friend of mine went on a Tuscan retreat (way TOO expensive for me) and it got me thinking how awesome it would be to go on a retreat or away for a knitting weekend. If you have gone or plan to go:
1.)Where was/is your retreat?
2.)Is this a retreat that is recurring, meaning offered more than once?
3.)How expensive was it if you don’t mind my asking?
4.)What are the highlights of this retreat?

Thanks in advance!

No, I haven’t. I saw an ad for a Sock Cruise, though. If I win the lottery, this is what I want to do.

A couple of weeks ago, I was listening to Knitting Rose’s podcast, and she described a retreat she had been to the weekend before, and it sounded heavenly.

Sorry I couldn’t answer your question…I’ll be curious to read others’ responses though.

GREAT thread idea!

I’ve never been on a knitting retreat but it would be great and I would go if I had the chance.I have been on quilting retreats and weekend bus tours and they are fantastic.

  I think we should get KH to host it’s own weekend retreat!! <wink, wink, nudge, nudge>

A friend of mine went to this Michigan retreat

We had our own little knitting retreat this summer at a cottage my aunt rented. There was only a few of us, but we really had fun. We did Kool-Aid dyeing and brought some of our knitting books and knit a LOT. We’re planning on doing it again next year.

OMG, that sound so, so fun!

It was! I think planning a little “retreat” like that is more fun in some ways because you can control everything, like what you’re eating (our menu was fantastic), what you’re doing (no set schedule, just whatever we wanted) and who you’re with (you’ll like everyone!).
Next year I think we’re planning on having “seminars” where each one of us teaches the others something we’re good at and that they want to learn. We also want to experiment with dyeing a bit more.
This is not to say that I wouldn’t love to go on a real knitting retreat, but ours was so much fun and a lot cheaper too!

That does sound like fun! I wish I had enough knitters in my immediate circle of family and friends to make that possible for us. No one I know knits and they are all amazed at my work even though I know its just total beginners stuff  Maybe KHF knitters can arrange stuff like that through the knitters in your area forum.
