Okay so I made a pretty awesome cabled hat (first time with cables), which I can’t wear because it came out ginormous 
! Is my head just freakishly small?!..gauge was correct, followed instructions…meh…or it might be that with my short hair I need to looking for different style hats… :shrug:

What yarn and needle size did you use? If you used a different weight yarn or changed needle size it will affect the size of the hat. If you used the same needle and yarn then you may be a loose knitter and you might need to go down a needle size or two.
I used Cascade 220 and she used Cascade Vero…on 7s for ribbing and 8 for rest of the hat. I may have exaggerated a bit…it was just a little too big but I like the word ginormous better :mrgreen:
Was it the Vero DK? That’s thinner than the 220 and using the 220 instead would make the hat somewhat larger.
She didn’t specify that…so that may be…
It’s Cascade Cash Vero which the pattern on Rav says is worsted.
hmmm…didn’t notice that. There is a worsted Cash Vera (o?) and a DK weight and I didn’t realize that she had specified…
If the ravelry listing is correct, she did mean the worsted/aran weight. Guess you’re just a loose knitter. Did your gauge match 18 sts/24 rows = 4 inches?
Yep…my swatch came out correctly…it’s a mystery…oh well…
Swatches lie. What did the gauge on the hat turn out? It can change from what’s on the swatch when you get to the project because you can relax or tense up.

I think it could be ok that is bigger than expected. Perhaps it’s “bigger enough” that you can wear like a slouch hat. :mrgreen:
Get it wet and block it smaller … smoosh it up. Since it is wool, you should be able to make it somewhat smaller
