…Berroco Pure Merino? Is it soft? I’m not near a LYS and need some opinions before I consider ordering online. Thanks! 
I haven’t used it, but I did hold it last week at a lys - it is quite soft. It seemed sort of loose? in the plys, if that makes any sense. The colors were nice though - wish I could be more help, but I can say it’s on my list of things to try.
I love Berroco Pure Merino, it has a wonderful feel and the colors are amazing. The fiber has an interesting “twist” to it that gives a bit different look to a stockinette stitch. I think it is quite nice.
I like it. It’s a nice soft yarn with great stitch definition.
It’s the looser plies that make yarn soft, I believe…
You’re right, a tightly spun yarn isn’t going to be as soft.
