I was looking for something to make a shawl for my mom … she is 85 and in a seniors home in Newfoundland where they will have cold and probably snow till May … I was at Michael’s and wanted something soft and washable but not something sheddy that would get all over a black wool sweater that I just bought her … she loves wool but I couldn’t find anything in a womanly color that could be washed and was yet soft … some of the wools feel so stiff …
So I got some Patons Bohemian and started that in a rib (k1 p1) on 70 st. on 8 mm circulars … I found a wonderful knitting night at a LYS so went last night for the first time … knitting in a back room among yarn … so much fun … somehow among the chatting and the knitting I ended up with 71 st … agghhh … the owner, a wonderful knowledgeable lady looked at it and said I’d been doing seed stitch not ribbing since row two so somehow I managed to get an extra stitch somewhere … so I continued in the seed stitch, which I really like anyway … :teehee:
Just wondered if anyone else has used this yarn? It’s kind of speckled rather than variegated and extremely soft …
I had bought some Filati Mighty to make a scarf for my mom but turns out it was quite wooly and again, didn’t hide the garter stitch well so I changed the other ball for some Natura by Marks and Kattens in a blue fleck …
I’ve used it to make a few scarves and it is really soft and warm… I made one for a friend last Christmas and a few weekends ago she was showing me how she still used it and loved it… kept talking about how warm it was… I think it will be a wonderful gift for your mom…
ON SALE??? AGGGHHH … and me a stashie … :wall: Oh I just went and I AM SAVED … they only ship to the USA … their price is 3.99 a ball, I pay 6.99 CDN for it so by the time I’d get it here with someone ordering it for me and then paying exchange, I’d probably be paying more … but they do have wonderful stuff that I can’t get here … MicroSpun for one.
You mean you knit the Bohemian along WITH Cha Cha? Gee, I have some Cha Cha but it’s called Vegas and is pretty bright to put with my Bohemian … what color Cha Cha and Bohemian did you use letah75? My mom is little and old and always cold too. :teehee:
It’s also on sale at Yarn Forward, a Canadian company. www.yarnfwd.com
Sounds as though it’s being discontinued so this would be the time to stock up if you like it.
I just finished a throw out of Bohemian and Shetland Chunky. It turned out great. Extremely soft and warm.
And considering we are in the middle of a cold snap, minus 20C at the moment, it’s getting used.
I’m sure yours will turn out beautiful.
