I really like it, too. But the yarn recommended seems to be $38 a skein, :pout: so I was hoping to hear stories of what other yarns were good, and see pictures of variations.

Well, for fingering weight yarn substitutions; you could try “Memories” from KnitPicks. It’s on clearance for $3.99/220 yards!

You can’t beat that! I like “Fly Fishing”. It’s a shame they don’t ship internationally.

As an inexperienced knitter, I have a question. How would that knit up on 4mm (size 6) needles like Lucie calls for? Wouldn’t it be kind of loose? The picture doesn’t look like it is. :shrug:

Every time I see this pattern’s gauge it’s what I ask, too. I haven’t seen an FO of this anywhere. There is a KAL if you google for it, but there’s nothing more than a swatch there.:shrug: But you might try asking over on Knitty’s forum.

Yes, I found the KAL, but I don’t think anyone finished it. There is absolutely nothing on the Knitty forum. :shrug: It’s such a cute sweater and I can’t understand why there’s not one single FO of it floating around. Is there some kind of problem with the pattern, that I can’t see because I am pretty inexperienced? It just doesn’t seem that hard…by that, I mean I know how to do all the stuff the pattern says to do. The biggest skill I will have to learn for this is good finishing technique, but that’s true for any pullover I choose to make.

I am waiting for the SnB book now, and when I get it I’ll decide between this sweater and the To Dye For sweater. This is my first garment project so I want to make the right choice and not mess it up too much.

ETA:  I did find some posts about Lucie by looking through the posts (search function didn't turn up anything) but most of the discussions were about what size to make and what yarn to use.  No FOs.

I, too, love the sweater and put it on my long list of things to knit. Keep me posted if you decide to make it. It’s purty, but I can’t afford the listed yarn, either!
