Has Anyone Ever Used Caron “Simply Soft” Yarn and is it any good ?

It might just be me and my impatience, but it was very splitty when I knit with it. When I worked very slowly, I ended up with a nice finished product, though.
I’ve used several different Caron yarns. Didn’t like any of them.
I love it, but I am patient with yarns that split. I think it’s VERY soft. But it’s all personal preference.
Last year, I made an afghan for my son with Simply Soft. He chose it so he could throw it in the wash. I had no problems with the yarn.
I used Simply Soft Quick to make a scarf…I love it, nice and soft!
I have had no trouble with Caron Simply Soft and I love the colors too… however Caron’s jewel box I had big troubles with split all over the place but others really like it too… I’d get a skein and try it out and see how it goes for you… I like its cause its right in my price range too
I learned how to crochet before learning to knit, and so I have used Caron a lot for crochet. The SImply Soft makes nice baby blankets, if you want something a bit heavier than true baby weight. (I tend to not start baby projects till the baby is big!!)
The other day, for fun, I grabbed some scrap Caron Simply Soft that I have in a really pretty varigated yellow-blue-lavendar-pink, and knitted for a bit with it. It did rather well! Didn’t split or anything.
I do want to make note here, though. When dealing with brands like Caron and Red Heart worsted yarns, you really have to be careful with the quality of the yarn! How badly it splits seems to just depend on the lot (I know they claim there are no lots, but there are!!). I remember my mom would ALWAYS pull out a few inches from the skein to look at how well it was twisted before purchasing. And I have learned that this is a necessary step when buying these brands. Perhaps the more expensive brands do not have this issue, but I have finances that do not allow me to purchase anything more than Caron and Red Heart!
I have used the simply soft…It is really soft and affordable, but its not one of my favorites…
I don’t remember which Caron I used. It might have been simply soft. It was for part of a picture on a sweater. It was OK, but any uneven stitches showed up a lot. I don’t think I’d use it again.
yeah, I bought this because it was cheap and I had a gift card to WalMart. I have only knit 3 rows but already it is splitting pretty badly. And it sits in the bottom of my knitting bag (lowest priority project) so any time needles even graze it I get weird single plys pulled out making obvious lame loopy things. Not my fav but it is really soft and I like the color availability and the hand of it isn’t as yucky as a lot of acrylics.
SOft. Cheap. Washable. I used Simply Soft for a baby blanket. Not too splitty. Pastel cors OK. Softness OK. But that’s about it ya know. Just…eh.
I’ve used Simply Soft as a base yarn in a couple of scarves. it’s just okay. not much of a color selection.
Thank you for all of the Info. I seen it at my local wally world and it was so soft , but I wanted to ask about the quality before I jumped in and bought a load of it… Thank you all so Much !!!

My best friend loves this yarn, but she uses it for crocheting. She has made dozens of baby blankets for her charity group with this stuff and prefers it over nearly anything else she has come across.
I like it, I can see the splitting problem, but I usually only have that if I frog anything or mess with the yarn while it is loose. Even then I usually just hold it together until I get it in the pattern and then all is good. I just made an adult sweater with it that I think is very soft and comfy and am working on a sweater for my 3 yo niece with it. I like it and will definitely use it again.
