Harry potter mitts

hi all. I am doing harry potter fingerless mitts for my 8 year old and I am just seeking clarification in the pattern I found. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I am stuck.
It is a ribbed pattern all the way up. I am just wondering on the thumb gussett, -does each line of this pattern seem like the begining of the row then I finish it with my regular k2p2 then move on to the next line?
Here is the pattern:

Work in k2 p2 rib for four color repeats (or to desired length).

Begin thumb gusset:
k2, p1, place marker, p1, k1, m1 (purl), k1, p1, place marker (5 stitches between markers)
k2, p1, slip marker, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, slip marker, p1, k2p2 to end of round.
k2, p1, slip marker, m1 (knit), p1k1 to 1 before marker, p1, m1 (knit), slip marker, p1, k2p2 to end of round. (7 st between markers)
k2, p1, slip marker, k1p1 to 1 before marker, k1, slip marker, p1, k2p2 to end of round.
k2, p1, slip marker, m1 (purl), k1p1 to 1 before marker, k1, m1 (purl), slip marker, p1, k2p2 to end of round. (9 st)
k2, p1, slip marker, p1k1 to 1 before marker, p1, slip marker, p1, k2p2 to end of round

Repeat rows 3 though 6 until you have 21 stitches between the markers. (If you have larger hands, you can continue a few more rounds and stop with 23 or 25 gusset stitches.)

I’m not sure what you’re asking…

I think this is the pattern she is making.LINK This pattern seems to leave out a few things, but between the picture and a bit of knowledge of how to make mitts in general it should work.

I think you are understanding it correctly. Start a new round with the directions it gives for the gusset, then continue to the end of the round in K2, P2 ribbing in pattern. Then go on to the next round. She didn’t number the rounds but I think each round begins with the K2. Good luck!
