Hi Everyone,
I hope I am in the right section for asking this question.
I would like to know the difference between the balls of wool that are in the skeins and the balls that you see in the shop all tightly wound up are the skeins more likely to be hand dyed/ hand spun wool.
Hope I am right in my thinking??? and this is not a silly question.
i don’t think it would be more likely to be hand dyed /handspun since yarn can be skeined and re-skeined into any of the forms or skeins or balls.
i would say your best bet in finding out if a particular yarn is hand dyed or handspun is to read the label or you could always ask the seller of the yarn to be sure
thanks for your help,
it just seems that all the wool in the skeins are very colourful more so than in the tight balls that they nust be hand dyed,
Thanks again
It depends on who prepares the roving. Braiding a length of roving is a great way to display all the colors, but I also like to roll my roving into balls to keep the wool cleaner from dust and handling.
