I wanna know what everyone has planned for there first project of the holiday for halloween and Xmas? Anything you wanted to do last year but you didn’t get around to? Does anyone have some big plans for someone in there family/group of friends? Anything so big your thinking “better get started now?” I know i do! Or am i the only goober dork who LOVES knitting for the holidays and has already started planning? My plans includes some lovely cable and lace orange and/ or green hats for halloween and some hats with earflaps for xmas. Lots of slippers, mitts, hats, kitchen cloths and hot pads for my Mom…stuff for the dog.
PLEASE! Someone relate! I can’t be the only one.:woot: :knitting:
Halloween and Xmas?
Yup, I actually have all my Christmas knitting planned and I’ve already started. I’m making an afghan for my dad and step mom and my mil and fil, and I have started both. I’ve ordered the yarn for Tori’s shawl and dh can cozy, and the pattern book for Jeremiah’s toys. I finished a hat that came out too smal for a baby for it’s the first of Belle’s doll clothes. I have everything else, I think. Oh I may need to get more yarn for one of the afghans…
Most of it is quick items, the only ones that are going to take more time is the afghans…
I would like to knit a Christmas stocking. I saw some on Ravelry, I think.
Well…Halloween this year is my wedding…so yes…smiles
I have my whole costume knit, and I am working on accessories…
I also have about 3 years in advance done for Halloween…Next year I want to be a paladin (knight) in knitted chainmail…
I have also just ordered Naughty Needles…I might try being a mermaid one year…(there is a knitted mermaid tail in there!)
Looks like i’m not the only one! Thanks everyone. If i ever get married im TOTALLY doing it on Halloween. it’s my fav! Good luck.
Crycket - I hope you can post some wedding photos cause I can’t wait to see them! It sounds like it will be so much fun!!
I’m starting some string shopping bags for xmas gifts.
Last year I knit for my DGD and DIL, this year, my guys both want socks. I knit so slowly, that’s all I can get done, beside my other projects. Sewing quite a few things though.
of course!
I’ve already finished a scarf and Calorimetry for christmas presents and in the middle of another scarf and the Knitted Ornament Covers. I also want to do the Candy Corn hat for my DS for Halloween/Fall. It’s never too early!! I’ve already got half of my Christmas shopping done!!!
I’ve got a good start on Christmas. I believe I’ve got all of my yarn bought. For the moms I’m doing felted purses and my SIL is getting some dish clothes and such. She got married in February so I know these will be a good gift.
As for the men I have not clue.
Let’s see. I’m skipping Halloween. :woot:
Christmas: I have completed 5 washcloth and back scrubber sets, 1 dust bunny almost done, 1 dust bunny to go. I have one sweater for DD 1/4 done and another one started (her birthday is 4 days after Christmas). Have a few squares done for a lapghan for the ex.
I have started a beaded felt Christmas stocking for DD’s boyfriend. Swore I would never make another one since all the other guys I made them for didn’t hang around very long. I am not overly fond of this boyfriend of hers so I am hoping the Christmas Stocking Curse will work. If it does, it will be well worth the time spent.
I want to make a hat/scarf/mittens set for my DIL, but don’t know if I will get to it.
DGD always comes up with something for me to do for her friends. Have to reserve some time for that.
I think that’s it. So far, anyway.
I already have one scarf and hat set made for a friend, have made three mini-stocking ornaments for my class and have the scarf and hat patterns picked out for the girls I babysit and a scarf and hat pattern for another friend. Now, I have to get the yarn!
:thud: i don’t plan christmas knitting until, like,… uh… Christmas Eve.
I started mine too. Got some yarn today for other Christmas stuff.
sweater for my nepher- OTN
socks for Dad
scarves for sisters-in law
throw blanket for in-laws
beer cozies and flower magnets for coworkers
beanies for the guys at my hubby’s shop
yeah- it is a good thing I have already started:knitting:
Me too! I want to try them and make them for my kids.
I’ve thought about it, since I have to finish them so much earlier this year in order for them to arrive in time for Christmas.
For my mother I was thinking about this Slant Pocket Bag
For my nieces probably matching Summerlin dresses (from Ravelry) and a toy of some sort – probably the Honey Bunny.
For MB a stole/shawl (pattern tbd), Bug I would love to knit him a sweater using cotton yarn but don’t think that’s realistic & will probably knit him a hedgehog family & find him a set of Jan Brett books to go with them (he has let me know he isn’t too happy that I haven’t brought mine to his house lately), Ladybug likes to sleep with several bunnies and I was thinking of Honey Bunny for her as well & some books or a Summerlin dress.
DB is hard to figure out, as well as the other male members of my family. Dad would like anything I make him, but my brothers are a bit picky & my SIL is worse. A few years ago I crocheted some fun flip flops & she liked them so much she gave them to one of her sisters.
For friends I’m going to attempt to knit snowflakes. I love crocheting snowflakes, but this will be my first year knitting some.
I have started planning, so that is good! I’ll finalize my plans because I am going to go to Honolulu in September & am excited about being able to explore several LYS & hopefully pick up supplies for the gifts.
I have plans but will time run out before I finish all I want. It did last year and I still have three scarves on needles and I think I will finish them and work on something new as well. I will add that last year my mate of 27 years passed away just before Halloween and it did put a lot on hold for … Still adjusting to being without my other. I knitted for my husband first last year nd my middle son took his gift as I was going to donate it to charity and he said no!! I never did finish my sons scarf to go with his hat and it is half done right now. My list of gifts is long and time always seems to run out before I can finish!!!
