Half moon heels in sock knitting

Are any of you familiar with the use of half-moon heels in sock knitting? Have any of you tried it? If so, was it easy or hard?

I have a link that shows how to knit half-moon heels to show what I am talking about:

The afterthought heel was “invented” by Elizabeth Zimmerman. Its kind of fun to do but doesn’t have a lot of uses. I remember the Yarn Harlot using it when she just wasn’t in a position to turn a heel-at a concert or something.

I can see using the half-moon heel when you cannot turn the heel in a sock you are making. It also looks pretty. Don’t you think?
