How do I figure out how many granny squares do I need for my Cardigan?

There are lots of granny Square cardigan patterns on ravelry, maybe find one that looks similar to what you have in mind an use it as a guide?

Assuming you are making a simple drop shoulder style, draw a schematic (diagram showing your desired finished measurements) and then work out what size of square will divide into those measurements. You can draw the squares in and count them (don’t forget to do the back as well).

You may need to adjust a little as you go.

Or, you could create a square that you like, then multiply its dimensions to decide on a finished size.

If your joining method for the squares adds fabric, you may need to factor that in too.

Half grannies (diagonal halves) can be used to create a v-neckline.
