Grafting problem

I’ll start by saying that I’ve used the Kitchener before (once) and didn’t have ANY problems with it. But I’ve already ripped it out once on this piece and the second time it’s still not working right. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong because the first half of the graft the stitches are winding up twisted, and the second half of the graft they’re perfect. It’s not like I’m changing the pattern mid-way. I was very careful to go back after ripping and reorient all my stitches, so that’s not the problem. Has anybody seen this or have any idea what I’m doing wrong? I’m too frustrated to try again tonight, but was really looking forward to being able to finish this soaker this weekend.

The graft is where the blue meets the yellow - the right half is all twisted (although not every stitch is twisted, some of them are correct), and the left half is all correct.

Try this. . .
Take out the grafting stitches, and then follow the great directions, here: http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Toes2.htm

Just keep in mind that even the writer of the tutorial above, says that she has to check her own directions when getting started with grafting, no matter how often she’s done it! There’s something about it that a lot of people get started off wrong every time they do it. If you bookmark the link, you can always go back whenever you have something which requires grafting.

Thank you both. 3rd time’s a charm, apparently.

The problem was so simple that of all the grafting instructions I’ve seen, only Silver made mention of it… keep the yarn UNDER the needles at all times. I’ll have to remember that for next time.
