Hi , I´m having a hard time understanding a knitting pattern.
It´s an English pattern.
Most of it I understand but when it comes to abbreviations and such it gets a bit difficult.
I´m not a native English speaker, I´m from the Netherlands.
I´m trying to knit the beautiful Gracious cardigan from Kim Hargreaves.
I´m having 108 stitches on my needle and I need to increase as follows.
“Cont in rib,shaping side seams bij inc 1 st at each end of next and 2 foll 8th rows, taking inc sts into rib”
I need to have 114 stitches after that.
I’m probably reading it wrong because I only count 3 increases according to the written above. Which gives me 111 stitches instead of 114. Am I reading it wrong?
Further on in the pattern it says;
Inc 1 st at each end of the 6th and 3 (3:1:1:3:3:3:3) foll 6th rows, then on 0 (0:2:2:0:0:0:0:) foll 8th rows.
99 stitches are on the needle and above increases should give me 109 stitches.
I’m reading 4 increases, 99 + 4 = 103 and not 109.
I have read the pattern over and over again but my brain is working overtime.
Is there someone who can translate the above to understandable step by step sentences.
I’m at the point of just giving up
Many many thanks!
