Good Stitch Patterns to Substitute

I plan to make the Banana Tree Cardigan. The pattern can be found free of charge on Ravelry. Our own Artlady has made one too.

Can anyone recommend a substitute stitch pattern that is made up of 16 stitches? I will be using Lion Brand Alpaka blend in black.

There are libraries of stitch patterns to choose from if you’l like to click through some of these:
or the large library here

These are all 16 stitches according to this stitch library.

On the left you can click the index sorted by stitch count and other things, too.

Thanks for the link. I haven’t had the time to look through it, but it looks promising.

Jan ~ I looked through the KnittingFool’s stitches, but she now requires that you subscribe. I may do that if I can’t find something elsewhere.

Thank you both for the help.

I don’t know why they do that, but it’s not a big deal. I just tried it and used my “shopping” email (yahoo). There’s nothing else to fill out.

From what I read she also requires a monthly fee of .99 cents for most patterns.

I’ll go there and give it another look.

Even the stitch patterns? I was able to select them and they had instructions. :??

I went to www.knittingfool.com and clicked on select stitches by stitch count (something like that), scrolled down the column to 16, clicked on it, and several thumbnails popped up to choose from. However, in order to proceed to the instructions you have to log in. Registration information states that it is .99 cents per month or a little less for the year.

If you are able to open stitch patterns with instructions for a multiple of 16, please send me a link.

Well, turns out that wasn’t what I thought it was. I clicked on one and a different one popped up with the pattern. So it doesn’t work and basically makes the site useless. I’m not going to pay for a stitch pattern either. Have you tried the library? Maybe they have a stitch pattern book?

Not yet, I haven’t been able to get back to town. Thank you for trying to help.

I finally found a site that might have a pattern that will work.

Some pretty cables listed.

There’s a lot of sts for free at knitting fool’s site, though maybe not all of them use the multiple that you need. You could also do 8 st multiple patterns, not just 16. And she could have changed things since I was there last, requiring payment/membership now. Another site that hasn’t been mentioned is www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/stitches.php

Bump. I want everyone to see these and have a chance to place them in their files.
