Good People

I remembered someone shared a “good people” story a while back here, so I thought I’d share mine.

One night last week I met a friend for ice cream (Maggie Moo’s- YUM). She got there before me and was standing next to this man and he was joking around. I thought she knew him, but apparently she didn’t. He was just being really friendly. Anyway, we let him order before us since we were still chatting about what to get. He gets up there and says our ice cream is on him, as well as everyone else in line. He said he gave them $100 and he’d buy as far as that went. We were in shock and couldn’t believe it was true. The cashier just smiled and didn’t charge us. Totally cool! (The ice cream and talk was really good too!)

Anyone else have any good people stories? Convince us that the world isn’t full of cranky, mean people!

Well this didn’t happen to me, but a girl in a web community for our city. she rides her bike everywhere, all the time. She was riding late one night in early April, and needless to say, it was quite cold out. A car slowed next to her and the woman in the passenger seat made a comment about being cold enough. The girl mentioned she was alright she just wished she had thought to bring some gloves. The couple in the car chuckled and waved goodbye as they went on their way.

About 10 min later they pull up again and slow down beside her, the woman holds her hand out the car window and hands her a pair of gloves, and tells her to stay warm, and have a good night.

Makes ya feel good about where you live, and people in general.:aww:

Wow, what wonderful stories!

Wow. Those are really nice and heart warming stories.

Here’s my favorite story:

A group of people from all around the world who have nothing in common except the fact that they like to create wonderful and magical things with pointy sticks comes together to offer support, guidance, love and even send each other gifts on a fairly regular basis despite the fact that most of them have not and will not ever meet face to face.

Pretty amazing, if you ask me!

zkimom… :hug:Very well said!

[/B]in that same vein, this particular post from The Panopticon was terrific.

Amen Amen Amen. Here’s to all the Good People in the World and on this site! :clink:

AAAAAAAAAAaaaaawwwwwww :muah:

Here is one of mine; I was in the drive through at Jack’s Hamburgers. When I pull up to the window, the cashier says that the lady in front of me paid my bill and she gave me a card that was from a local church that said something like showing God’s love in a practical way. How cool is that? I didn’t really have the money for breakfast, I was just going to use my Debit card. So sweet that she picked me.

Heyyyy, I know that place!! :teehee:

Who doesn’t? :teehee:

One evening, several years ago, my truck broke down on highway 23 a few miles into Michigan. I sat there all night waiting for road service, which isn’t uncommon.

In the morning, while I was still waiting, a truck went by and the driver asked me if I was ok and if I needed anything. Being the facetious soul that I am I told him that the only thing I needed was a cup of coffee.

About a half hour later the same truck pulled onto the shoulder on the opposite side of the highway and called me on the radio to meet him in the median.

He had brought me a large cup of coffee and a danish. Wow, I was floored.

He actually took the time to stop, buy the coffee and danish, and come back in the wrong direction just to provide me with some breakfast.

The driver wouldn’t take my money when I offered to pay him. He just asked that I help another driver along the way. It was a Pay It Forward thing long before that movie ever came out.

And I’ve done the same thing ever since.

Well put. :muah:

Truck drivers in Michigan are the greatest, most helpful, and considerate people around! I’m so glad that you were assisted by one!

My son and I were at a store once and money was tight. I only bought items I had coupons for (it was double coupon day). My son kept asking if he could get some markers out of the office supply isle. I kept telling him that we couldn’t get them today… maybe next payday. He kept asking and asking. We got in a VERY long line and he kept it up the entire time (Aspies perserverate). I kept trying to explain that this trip was for groceries and maybe next time we can get the markers. He asked if I had a coupon for markers and I said, no I’m sorry I don’t. We paid for our things and started to walk out the door when a woman flagged us down. She had heard us discussing the markers in line and bought them for my son. She told him, “I had a coupon for FREE markers I wasn’t using. Would you like them?” He shook his head and smiled and thanked her. I was in such shock. I thanked her and walked away. I’ll never forget that kindness.

Our church had those cards last summer. We were encouraged to do the same. My friend (from church) and I were both wondering if he didn’t have those kind of cards too

I always share my coupons. Bed, Bath & Beyond give TONS of coupons and they take expired coupons. If I see someone in line with no coupons, I’ll pass one to them. We have a restaurant that gave out coupons good for up to 4 visits a while back. It was the day before it expired and we were using it. We handed it to the table behind us after we paid our bill. They gave it back after they were done and we handed it to the next table. They both were extremely grateful. I didn’t need the coupon anyway! I’ll leave coupons on items that I’m not buying too. (Say a certain brand of diapers expires the next week and I’m buying the other brand). If I’m not using it, why not pass along the savings! The stores and restaurants probably don’t like me much!

The stores get their money back from the vendor if it’s a grocery store so, I think that is a great idea.

I love all these stories, they just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
