I have a pattern for gloves that say they are about a womens medium. How can I make them into a mens large?
Larger needles and heavier yarn? Or, look for men’s glove patterns.
Thanks, have been looking for mens glove patterns, but have only found mediums so far. guess I’ll keep looking
there are different ways, really.
Change the pattern to add more stitches and rows. Depending on the pattern that can be a lot of work or not come out so nicely.
thicker yarn and / or thicker needles may do the trick, depending on how much you have to enlarge them.
But careful: a lot of times, women’s hands are more slim than men’s hands. You may need to add more width than hight or the fingertips will be dangeling in mid air! I try them on on the man in question when making gloves. Perfect fit guaranteed if you just knit a little longer than you think you need (I always undershoot, otherways)
I do have one pattern link for you, however:

They come in the following sizes:
GLOVES:
Sizes: (S/M) L/XL
Maybe that will at least help you with changing the pattern that you have.
Men’s gloves are relatively hard to find, just like most men’s knitting patterns.
Here’s a few ideas…

If you have The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns there is a glove recipe in there.
