Gloves pattern question

Hi all, been awhile since I posted here, but I really need some help. I’m trying to knit a pair of gloves. The pattern says “Arrange sts on 3 (or 4) dpn, place marker (pm) and join, being careful not to twist sts.” Although I have been knitting for a few years, I honestly have no clue what “join” means or how to do it. If anyone out there can explain it to me in “idiot terms” I would sure appreciate it. I have basically learned everything I know from watching videos on this site, but haven’t found one for this particular technique. Any and all help will be profoundly appreciated.

Thanks,

knitaddict

Have you knit in the round before?? If so, this is all it means. “Join” to begin working in the round.

If that doesn’t clear things up for you, do post back.

Nope, I’ve never knitted in the round before. Have no clue what it means.

On this page - http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/advanced-techniques - you will want to take a look at the videos for ‘Small Diameter Circular Knitting’. The glove pattern you are wanting to make states to use double pointed needles, but any of the 3 methods shown on the page linked can be used. Whichever you end up being most comfortable with.
