I am cuttently knitting a childs raglan swing coat from the top down. When the pattern tells me “the raglan measurement is taken from the neck, down the diagonal line the increases made, to the underarm”, what seam is that? i have the left front-seam-left sleeve-seam-back-seam-right sleeve-seam- right front. which seam do i use to measure? thanks!
It would be the seam that joins the sleeve to the body.
On a raglan, you have no shoulder seams–just the seams that join the sleeves to the body at an angle.
The angles at the top of your sleeve should match up with the angles at the top of your front and back pieces. That’s the measurement you want.
Hope that helped!
